Antique French 'Steam Hammer' Clock The Foundryman Circa 1890 by A.R.Guilmet

A rare Antique French industrial automata 'steam hammer' clock. 'The Foundryman' From the series of industrial clocks by Andre Romain Guilmet. (GLT), Circa 1890. 

The case realistically depicts an metal worker in cap, trousers and jacket forming a bar of brass at the anvil, the bar's far edge flattened by the constant vertical motion of the hammer which is set in the large piston assembly to the right. The red-brick boiler to the left behind him with door, taps and pressure gauge set with the clock dial and containing the clock movement. All mounted on a patinated tiled floor and set on a brass plinth, supported by a black marble plinth.

The French twin spring barrel 8-day movement housed in the boilerhouse, striking the hours and halves on a gong, with anchor escapement, the back plate stamped GLT for Guilmet and numbered 1677. The steamhammer which is part of the compound pendulum moves vertically up and down to the front. The pendulum in the rear of the steamhammer receives it's propulsion remotely from the clock movement by a series of levers, it is adjusted for time at the bottom of the pendulum.

Comes with its winding key it good running order. A perfect gift or addition to any collection.
