A very rare antique French enamel and brass World Time clock.
The globe marked with the trademark of Antoine Redier.
The 3.5 inch enamel globe is decorated in many colours and marked with country borders, capital cities, major rivers, lakes and twenty four time zones with a single steel pointer, mounted around the meridian with a brass band carrying 24 white enamel cartouche arabic numerals, all in a gimballed mount on a marble base, the cylinder platform escapement housed within the globe and wound via a two-pronged key acting through the lower section of the brass gimbal, a weight set inside the hemisphere opposite the hand ensures that the annular chapter ring remains at an easily legible angle throughout use. Antoine Redier was born in 1817 and was an eminent maker of clocks & registering instruments, he died in 1892.
