Antique French clock Gilt & silvered-bronze nautical desk compendium Circa 1890
Maritime themed desk clock with a double ships wheel on a ratcheted capstan, having a barometer in one side of the wheel, a clock in the other side and with a compass on a stand at the top.
Standing on a rouge marble base. The dials can be rotated on the base to view each side by swivelling it round on the base. An 8-day timepiece clock movement with balance escapement, wound through the white enamel dial, having Roman numerals and indistinct Paris makers name. Aneroid barometer with enamel dial and gilt setting hand, signed with the barometer maker's initials, 'AER'. for Antoine Redier who is probably best known for his enamelled globe clocks and alarm clocks and was also involved in the production of Aneroid barometers.
