Exceptional circa 1700 quarter repeating pocket watch by Brouncker Watts of London, featuring a green shagreen-covered gilt case, pierced sound frets, original bull's-eye glass and an ornate four-pillar fusee movement with a finely pierced balance cock and rose-cut diamond endstone. Originally believed to have featured a verge escapement, the movement appears to have been subsequently converted to a lever escapement; with Watts recorded as working in London between 1693 and 1719, this rare example of early English watchmaking offers collectors a fascinating piece of horological history.
